This negligence once again sparked discussion among Iranian Canadians and reminded them of the inaction of the federal government in investigating and stopping the flow of corrupt individuals fleeing from Iran.

It’s extremely troubling for many Canadians of Iranian heritage that Prime Minister Trudeau and his government openly criticize and pressure Canada Soccer to cancel a sold-out friendly match with the Iranian national soccer team for political reasons yet since forming government in 2015 have not answered the calls by the Iranian Canadian Congress and thousands of community members to investigate the cases of corrupt individuals fleeing to Canada and setting up business and investments in our country.

The undersigned, as a member of the Iranian Canadian community, would like to express my extreme concern about these cases and call on the Canadian government, the Prime Minister’s office, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Public Safety and the Minister of National Revenue to immediately open an investigation on the case of Mahmoud Reza Khavari including his family investments in Canada and others charged or indicted with corruption charges in Iran who have fled to Canada using the full power of the Canadian law including but not limited to anti-money laundry laws. Our government and law enforcement agencies must prevent Canada from becoming a haven for corrupt money. 
Our government must act now.
