Dear Prime Minister Carney, Minister Anand, and Minister Champagne,

I am writing to add my voice to the Iranian Canadian Congress in condemning the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran, and in denouncing the Canadian government’s immoral position on this matter, as reflected in the unconscionable statements made on February 28, March 19, March 21, and September 6, 2026.

Common denominators of these government statements are:
-	 the failure to acknowledge the most important fact that this illegal and unprovoked war of aggression was launched by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026, without authorization from the United Nations Security Council and in the midst of diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the US, mirroring the 12-day US-Israeli illegal war on Iran in June 2025;
-	the erasure of horrific US-Israeli war crimes in Iran, the massive civilian toll, and the targeted destruction of schools, hospitals, universities, residential buildings, religious centres, sports centres, heritage sites, and civilian infrastructure;
-	the attempts to frame Iran, the victim of the US-Israeli illegal war, as the aggressor and the source of instability in the region despite the fact that Iran has not initiated a war of aggression against any country for over two centuries, while the US and Israel have committed many illegal wars of aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in the region over decades, including the ongoing US-backed Israeli genocide and apartheid in occupied Palestine;
-	the attempts to justify and manufacture consent for the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran using tired and debunked propaganda lines such as “Iran must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons,” despite the fact that the US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, testified in March 2025 that “The Intelligence Community continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon,” a conclusion verified by regular inspections of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) up until IAEA-monitored nuclear facilities in Iran were destroyed by US-Israeli attacks during the 12-day war rendering them inaccessible;
-	the attempts to deny Iran’s right as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to develop and use its nuclear program for peaceful applications such as medicine, energy, and research;
-	the attempts to deny Iran’s inherent right to self-defense in the face of the US-Israeli illegal war of aggression — a right which is enshrined in international law;
-	the attempts to frame Iran’s self-defense retaliations against the US, Israel, and other regimes in the region hosting hostile US military bases as aggression;
-	the attempts to frame Iran’s self-defense exercise of strategic control over its own territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf as aggression, even though hostile forces in and around these waters have been attacking Iran and massacring Iranians; and
-	the erasure of the fact that Iran entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US on June 17, 2026, for an immediate and permanent end to US-Israeli military operations on all fronts in the region and the lifting of US sanctions against Iran, but the US subsequently violated the terms of the MoU.

The US-Israeli illegal war on Iran since February 28 has resulted in the assassination of Iran’s Head of State, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with his daughter and 14-month-old granddaughter, as well as many senior officials and scientists together with members of their families. These horrific attacks have also massacred over 168 children and teachers at an elementary school in Minab, 21 young female volleyball players and students at a sports hall and nearby school in Lamerd, five children and women at a wedding ceremony in Kouhestak, at least 104 sailors aboard Iran’s Frigate Dena in international waters, and at least 3,519 other Iranians, injuring thousands more. I stand in solidarity with the victims of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

I call on the Canadian government to:
1.	condemn and call for an immediate end to the US-Israeli war on Iran and US-backed Israeli genocide in occupied Palestine;
2.	acknowledge Iran’s right to self-defense under international law, right to exercise control over its territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, and right to develop and use its peaceful nuclear program as a member of the NPT;
3.	commit that Canada will not support, participate in, or contribute to any war launched by the US or Israel on Iran, Palestine, or any other country in any way;
4.	terminate Canadian sanctions against Iran, Iranian entities and individuals;
5.	restore diplomatic and consular relations with Iran and pursue diplomatic approaches to conflict resolution;
6.	impose an immediate two-way arms embargo and comprehensive sanctions on the apartheid regime of Israel;
7.	call for independent investigation and accountability regarding the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the US and Israel in Iran, Palestine, and broader West Asia.

Supporting the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran, US-backed Israeli genocide in occupied Palestine, and other acts of aggression in West Asia will not only be a political liability during the next election cycle but will also have severe legal consequence for those who aid and abet US-Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity in any way.

l’incapacité à reconnaître le fait le plus important, à savoir que cette guerre illégale et non provoquée a été lancée par les États‑Unis et Israël le 28 février 2026, sans autorisation du Conseil de sécurité des Nations Unies et en pleine négociation diplomatique entre l’Iran et les États‑Unis, reproduisant la guerre illégale de douze jours menée par les États‑Unis et Israël contre l’Iran en juin 2025 ;

l’effacement des crimes de guerre horribles commis par les États‑Unis et Israël en Iran, du lourd bilan civil, et de la destruction ciblée d’écoles, d’hôpitaux, d’universités, d’immeubles résidentiels, de centres religieux, de centres sportifs, de sites patrimoniaux et d’infrastructures civiles ;

les tentatives de présenter l’Iran — victime de la guerre illégale menée par les États‑Unis et Israël — comme l’agresseur et la source d’instabilité dans la région, alors que l’Iran n’a pas initié de guerre d’agression contre un autre pays depuis plus de deux siècles, tandis que les États‑Unis et Israël ont mené de nombreuses guerres illégales d’agression, commis des crimes de guerre et des crimes contre l’humanité dans la région pendant des décennies, y compris le génocide et l’apartheid en cours menés par Israël avec l’appui des États‑Unis dans la Palestine occupée ;

les tentatives de justifier et de fabriquer le consentement pour la guerre illégale menée par les États‑Unis et Israël contre l’Iran en recourant à des arguments éculés et discrédités tels que « l’Iran ne doit jamais être autorisé à obtenir ou développer des armes nucléaires », alors même que la Directrice du renseignement national des États‑Unis, Tulsi Gabbard, a témoigné en mars 2025 que « la communauté du renseignement continue d’évaluer que l’Iran ne construit pas d’arme nucléaire », une conclusion confirmée par les inspections régulières de l’Agence internationale de l’énergie atomique (AIEA) jusqu’à ce que les installations nucléaires iraniennes surveillées par l’AIEA soient détruites par les attaques américano‑israéliennes durant la guerre de douze jours, les rendant inaccessibles ;

les tentatives de nier le droit de l’Iran, en tant que membre du Traité sur la non‑prolifération (TNP), de développer et d’utiliser son programme nucléaire à des fins pacifiques telles que la médecine, l’énergie et la recherche ;

Les tentatives de nier le droit inhérent de l’Iran à l’autodéfense face à la guerre illégale d’agression menée par les États‑Unis et Israël — un droit consacré par le droit international ;

Les tentatives de présenter les représailles légitimes de l’Iran contre les États‑Unis, Israël et d’autres régimes de la région hébergeant des bases militaires américaines hostiles comme des actes d’agression ;

Les tentatives de présenter l’exercice par l’Iran de son droit de contrôle stratégique sur ses eaux territoriales dans le détroit d’Hormuz et le golfe Persique comme une agression, alors même que des forces hostiles dans et autour de ces eaux ont attaqué l’Iran et massacré des Iraniens ;

condamner et exiger la fin immédiate de la guerre menée par les États‑Unis et Israël contre l’Iran ainsi que du génocide mené par Israël avec l’appui des États‑Unis dans la Palestine occupée ;

reconnaître le droit de l’Iran à l’autodéfense en vertu du droit international, son droit d’exercer le contrôle de ses eaux territoriales dans le détroit d’Hormuz et le golfe Persique, et son droit de développer et d’utiliser son programme nucléaire pacifique en tant que membre du TNP ;

s’engager à ce que le Canada ne soutienne, ne participe ni ne contribue de quelque manière que ce soit à une guerre lancée par les États‑Unis ou Israël contre l’Iran, la Palestine ou tout autre pays ;

mettre fin aux sanctions canadiennes contre l’Iran, ses entités et ses citoyens ;

rétablir les relations diplomatiques et consulaires avec l’Iran et privilégier des approches diplomatiques pour la résolution des conflits ;

imposer un embargo bilatéral immédiat sur les armes et des sanctions globales contre le régime d’apartheid israélien ;
