Dear Prime Minister Carney, Minister Anand, and Minister Champagne,

I am writing to join the Iranian Canadian Congress in condemning the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran, and in denouncing the Canadian government’s immoral position on this matter, as reflected in the unconscionable statements made on February 28, March 19, March 21, and September 6, 2026.

Common denominators of these government statements are:
-	 the failure to acknowledge the most important fact that this illegal and unprovoked war of aggression was launched by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026, without authorization from the United Nations Security Council and in the midst of diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the US, mirroring the 12-day US-Israeli illegal war on Iran in June 2025;
-	the erasure of horrific US-Israeli war crimes in Iran, the massive civilian toll, and the targeted destruction of schools, hospitals, universities, residential buildings, religious centres, sports centres, heritage sites, and civilian infrastructure;
-	the attempts to frame Iran, the victim of the US-Israeli illegal war, as the aggressor and the source of instability in the region despite the fact that Iran has not initiated a war of aggression against any country for over two centuries, while the US and Israel have committed many illegal wars of aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in the region over decades, including the ongoing US-backed Israeli genocide and apartheid in the occupied Palestine;
-	the attempts to justify and manufacture consent the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran using tired and debunked propaganda lines such as “Iran must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons,” despite the fact that the US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, testified in March 2025 that “The Intelligence Community continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon,” a conclusion verified by regular inspections of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) up until IAEA-monitored nuclear facilities in Iran were destroyed by US-Israeli attacks during the 12-day war rendering them inaccessible;
-	the attempts to deny Iran’s right as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to develop and use its nuclear program for peaceful applications such as medicine, energy, and research;
-	the attempts to deny Iran’s inalienable right to self-defense which is enshrined in international law;
-	the attempts to frame Iran’s self-defense retaliations against the US, Israel, and other regimes in the region hosting hostile US military bases as aggression;
-	the attempts to frame Iran’s self-defense exercise of strategic control over its own territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf as aggression, even though hostile forces in and around these waters have been attacking Iran and massacring Iranians; and
-	the erasure of the fact that Iran entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US on June 17, 2026, for an immediate and permanent end to US-Israeli wars of aggression on all fronts in the region and the lifting of US sanctions against Iran, but the US subsequently violated the terms of the MoU.

The US-Israeli illegal war on Iran since February 28 has resulted in the assassination of Iran’s Head of State, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with his daughter and 14-month-old granddaughter, as well as many senior officials and scientists together with members of their families. These horrific attacks have also massacred over 168 children and teachers at an elementary school in Minab, 21 young female volleyball players and students at a sports hall and nearby school in Lamerd, five children and women at a wedding ceremony in Kouhestak, at least 104 sailors aboard Iran’s Frigate Dena in international waters, and at least 3,519 other Iranians, injuring thousands more. I stand in solidarity with the victims of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

I call on the Canadian government to:
1.	condemn and call for an immediate end to the US-Israeli war on Iran and US-backed Israeli genocide in the occupied Palestine;
2.	acknowledge Iran’s right to self-defense under international law, right to exercise control over its territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz and Persian Gulf, and right to develop and use its peaceful nuclear program as a member of the NPT;
3.	commit that Canada will not support, participate in, or contribute to any war launched by the US or Israel on Iran, Palestine, or any other country in any way;
4.	terminate Canadian sanctions against Iran, Iranian entities and individuals;
5.	restore diplomatic relations with Iran and pursue diplomatic approaches to conflict resolution;
6.	impose an immediate two-way arms embargo and comprehensive sanctions on the apartheid regime of Israel;
7.	call for independent investigation and accountability regarding the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the US and Israel in Iran and Palestine.

Supporting the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran and US-backed Israeli genocide in the occupied Palestine will not only be a political liability during the next election cycle but will also have severe legal consequence for those who aid and abet US-Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity in any way.
